Golden Circle Tour

This tour of the full Golden Circle will take you to Iceland’s most popular destinations such as Thingvellir National park, Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir geothermal area. We at Made By Iceland like to give our customers a more personal experience and the service they deserve by operating minibus tours for smaller groups max 15 people.

Enjoy Iceland´s nature and culture in a full day tour of the Golden Circle from Reykjavik. Feast on scenic stops at Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland´s parliament was founded in 930 A.D. and holds the meeting of the tectonic plates.

Golden Circle Tour Iceland

Thingvellir National Park and Öxarárfoss Waterfall

The Golden Circle Tour route will begin with a visit to the Thingvellir National Park, an area that is of great historical significance to the Icelandic people as well as containing many striking geological features. It’s the place where the Eurasian and American tectonic plates meet and also houses the rocks where Althingi (the Icelandic Parliament) was founded in 930 AD, which makes it the oldest parliamentary site in the world. You can admire the  beautiful waterfall nearby and Öxarárfoss and Thingvellir have been nominated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Geysir Geothermal Area

Our next stop will be at the geothermally active valley of Haukadalur where we will look at the famous Geysir and other hot springs. One of them is the Strokkur geyser which projects steaming hot water roughly every five to ten minutes to a height of about 20-30 meters. To top it off we take an easy hike to Bruarfoss, Oxararfoss and Faxi waterfalls. Very family friendly and breathtaking scenery.

Gullfoss Waterfall - The Golden Waterfall

Gullfoss will be our next destination. It is the most famous waterfall in Iceland on  the Hvíta river. It is a truly powerful and inspirational place where you can stand so close to the roaring water that you feel the glacial drops on your face.

We put the full emphasis on nature and culture as we tell stories when we ease through the surroundings in a small group. The tour is operated in a minibus and we focus on not exceeding more than 15 people. This way the guide can connect to all passengers and a much nicer vibe is created during the day.

The Golden Circle is Iceland´s most popular route and it is not by any coincidence. The route lies not so far from the capital and easily offers a variety of natural scenery to explore as well as many stories from the settlement to our times.
